"El Baile Rojo" - Colombian Documentary - 2003

El documental Colombiano "El Baile Rojo", marca un esfuerzo por restaurar la memoria colectiva de un experimento de reconciliación que fué borrado a sangre y fuego del mapa político de Colombia. El título del documental viene del nombre dado a la operación de extermínio contra el partido político legal de izquierda "Unión Patriótica" (UP) propuesto en 1984 como salida a la guerra civil. El documental cuenta con testimonios de 25 sobrevivientes de nueve diferentes incidentes de los casi 3000 asesinatos que fueron identificados por "Reiniciar", una organización no gubernamental que lidera la petición colectiva de la UP ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos.

The Colombian documentary film "El Baile Rojo" (The Red Dance), marks an effort to restore collective memory of an experiment in reconciliation that was erased by blood and fire from the country's political map. The film's title comes from the name of the extermination operation against the "Patriotic Union" (UP), a legal leftist movement proposed in 1984 as a political means to end the civil war. The film has testimonies from 25 survivors of nine different incidents, of the 3000 that were tallied by "Reiniciar" ("restart"), a non-governmental organisation that is leading the UP's collective petition filed with the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights.
