Personal Shopper (2016)

It's been already three months since the sudden death of her 27-year-old twin brother Lewis from a congenital malformation of the heart, and Maureen, a young fashionista, assistant to a celebrity woman and a capable medium, still hasn't made any contact with him. Spending her time between high profile fashion establishments and the abandoned Lewis' house in Paris, Maureen is silently battling with the gut-wrenching grief and sorrow, while at the same time, looking for a sign from her deceased brother after an oath taken between the twins.

Maureen (Kristen Stewart) is a personal shopper in Paris for Kyra (Nora von Waldstätten), a celebrity. She travels to European capitals to shop for her, buying clothes, accessories and jewels. Her twin brother Lewis recently died from a heart attack; they shared the same genetic heart problem. They were both interested in spiritism and believed they had connections to the spirit world.

Maureen stays overnight at her late brother's home, hoping for a sign from him from the other side. His girlfriend, Lara (Sigrid Bouaziz), wants to sell the mansion and the buyers want Maureen to find out if the mansion is free from evil spirits. During her discussion with the potential buyers, Maureen discovers the artist Hilma af Klint whose paintings were inspired by messages from the spirit world. Maureen video chats with her boyfriend, Gary (Ty Olwin), who is on a contract job in Oman.

At Kyra's apartment, Maureen meets and talks with Kyra's lover, Ingo (Lars Eidinger), who tells her Kyra is planning to break up with him, as she's afraid her husband will discover their relationship. She spends another night at Lewis's home, and has another encounter with the 'presence', which turns on house faucets.

Personal Shopper is a 2016 French psychological thriller film written and directed by Olivier Assayas. It stars Kristen Stewart, Lars Eidinger, Sigrid Bouaziz, Anders Danielsen Lie, Ty Olwin, Hammou Graia, Nora von Waldstatten, Benjamin Biolay, Audrey Bonnet and Pascal Rambert. It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes, Assayas shared the Best Director Award with Cristian Mungiu for his film Graduation.

Trama
Maureen è una giovane donna americana che vive a Parigi e lavora come personal shopper. Ha l'incarico di scegliere i vestiti ideali, con un budget stratosferico a disposizione, per una star esigente di nome Kyra. Maureen ha anche il dono di comunicare con gli spiriti. Cerca un contatto con l'aldilà per poter salutare definitivamente il fratello gemello Lewis, recentemente scomparso e per riappacificarsi con la sua perdita. Inizierà a ricevere ambigui messaggi inviati da un mittente sconosciuto. Entrerà in contatto con una presenza spettrale ma non è sicura che si tratti di Lewis.
