Ispirato al romanzo bestseller dal titolo FIORE DI NEVE E IL VENTAGLIO SEGRETO, della scrittrice Lisa See, il film racconta la storia di Fiore di neve e Lily, due bambine di sette anni, vissute ai tempi della Cina del 19° secolo, che subiscono la fasciatura dei piedi alla stessa età e nel medesimo giorno.Questo avvenimento unirà inesorabilmente i loro destini attraverso un legame conosciuto con il nome di laotong – un vincolo che le unisce assieme per l’eternità.
