The plot blends three stories about love infinite and impossible (for them to carry the burden of past mistakes-res), drawing on the puppet theater "bun-raku" which open and close the film. In the central story, a man-na abandoned his girlfriend to marry the daughter of the head of your company, but when it, after a suicide attempt, was left in a vegetative state-ment, will leave his job and his life wander through the world with her tied to each other with a rope (a delicate and precious umbilical cord), seeking his forgiveness and what they lost. In the sec-ond, an old Yakuza boss (one of the nods to the previous filmo-graphy of Kitano), sick and alone, he is reunited with the woman he abandoned years ago in a park bench, still await-ing return there every week since then. In the final histo-ria, a pop singer who has tasted the sweetness of success, but after an accident leaves contact with the world, you see as your biggest fan has not forgotten and it gets everywhere to show their affection and understanding.

La trama entremezcla tres historias sobre amores infinitos e imposibles (por llevar éstos la carga de los erro-res del pasado), inspirándose para ello en las marionetas del teatro “bun-raku”, que abren y cierran el film. En la historia central, un hombre abando-na a su novia para casarse con la hija del jefe de su empresa, pero cuando aquélla, tras un intento de suicidio, se queda en un estado vegeta-tivo, dejará su trabajo y su vida para vagar con ella por el mundo atados mutuamente con una cuerda (un delicado y precioso cordón umbilical), en busca de su perdón y de lo que perdieron. En la se-gunda, un viejo jefe Yakuza (uno de los guiños a la anterior filmo-grafía de Kitano), enfermo y solo, se reencuentra con la mujer que abandonó años atrás en el banco de un parque, que sigue esperan-do allí su regreso cada semana desde entonces. En la última histo-ria, una cantante pop que ha probado las mieles del éxito, pero que tras sufrir un accidente abandona todo contacto con el mundo, verá como su mayor fan no la ha olvidado y que éste llegará a donde sea para demostrarle su afecto y comprensión.
