BBC: Cheetahs: Fast Track to Freedom (2006)

In his sandals and khaki shorts, Simon King is your garden-variety nature nerd. Deep in Kenya's beautiful wilderness, King encounters two orphaned cheetah cubs and resolves to raise them before releasing them into the wild. Dubbed Sambu and Toki, they soon grow into sleek, beautiful hunters. The question is, can King give these cheetahs the eye of the tiger, so to speak? This exceptional BBC documentary is heavy with hope and sadness. In the wash-up, it's worth recalling the Midnight Oil lyric: "It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees."
