Tecplot RS 2022 R1 (2022.1.0.18384) | 559.1 mb

Tecplot, Inc. has announced the general availability of Tecplot RS 2022 R1 (2022.1.0.18384) is visualization environment tailored specifically for reading and displaying reservoir data.

What’s New in Tecplot RS 2022 R1 - Date: November 30, 2022
Here is a quick overview of the most significant updates in the 2022 R1 release.

Timestep Access for Equations
Users can now “freeze” a dynamic variable at a specific timestep and use that value in a grid equation. For example, if you want to include Pressure at timestep 3 in an equation, you can now do that with the following example syntax: {NEWVARIABLE}={PRESSURE[3]-{PRESSURE}. In this equation, the pressure value at the 3rd timestep is held as a constant while the 2nd pressure value in the equation remains a dynamic variable, and will change as you advance the timestep. In order to determine the current timestep #, simply hover over the date next to the VCR controls, and the number will be displayed.

Grid Frame Ordering
When comparing a large number of grid solutions, users found it very difficult to control the ordering of the frames (in previous versions, you had to load the grids in the order that you wanted them displayed). We remedied that by building a new UI in the Compare Grid Data dialog that will allow you to easily activate the comparison grids you wish to view and re-order the frames by using the arrows or by simply dragging the grid solution to the desired spot.

(BETA): Bubble Plot Guided Tutorial
In this release, we are rolling out a beta version of the Guided Tutorials. Customers have been asking us to build something embedded in RS that will guide them through complex operations and workflows step by step. For the first tutorial, we decided to walk users through setting up bubble plots, which is an extremely valuable spatial view, and can be used to understand things like the proportion of water/oil at each well, or even visually understand a history match.

Added timestep access for equations
Equation syntax will now allow the use of a time dependent variable at a certain timestep. For example:
Set {VARNAME} equal to the value of {SOIL} at time step 3 multiplied by 2:
{VARNAME} = {SOIL[3] * 2}
Set {VARNAME} equal to the valid of {SOIL} at time step 1 plus the value of {SGAS} at time step 5:
{VARNAME} = {SOIL[1]} + {SGAS[5]}
If an equation with a timestep fails, you can hover the mouse over the equation for more information on the cause of the failure. Time step variables are constant and cannot be assigned data values. They may only be used on the right hand side of the equals sign:
{SOIL[2]} = 5 [This will generate an error]
Timesteps within square brackets must be integers between 1 and the number of timesteps in the dataset. Integer expressions are not supported:
{VARNAME1}={SOIL[10 - 6 + 2]} [This will generate an error]
Control Frame ordering in Grid Compare modes
Added the ability to change the ordering of frames in Grid Compare mode. This will allow users to quickly switch between the “active dataset” and the compared grid files without having to go to the Manage Data dialog.
Bubble Plot Guided Tutorial
This release shows the first implementation of a Tecplot RS workflow module. Modules are interactive steps that a user can do to create a certain kind of plot or use a feature. For this example, it is how to turn on bubble plots. Go to Help>(BETA) Bubble Plot Workflow to try it out!

Bug Fixes and Minor Enhancements
- Added support for HH:MM:SS granularity in DATE/TIME ASCII files.
- XY equations will now be applied when loading a project file.
- Added auto append option for RFT files.
- Updated the 3D Grid sidebar for better fit across multiple window sizes.
- Fixed bug where Pick Cut/Copy/Paste macros were not being recorded properly.
- Fixed bug where RS crashes when comparing a large number ofunsmry cases.
- Grid equations now appear on the sidebar when the “Calculate” button is pressed.
- Better support for small TIME deltas with a manual range.
- Fixed bug when applying equation to all files.
- Added Select All and Deselect All buttons to the XY Equation Dialog.
