Tecplot - software engineering plotting with broad functionality XY, 2D and 3D. One of the most important new features of this product is the ability to write scripts in Python. This feature was created specifically for engineers who require additional analysis (FFTs, splines, statistical functions, etc.), as well as the flexibility afforded by the ability to write scripts, compared with writing macros.

What’s New in Tecplot RS 2014 Release 1:

Support for UTCHEM Simulator
Tecplot RS 2014 R1 reads native UTCHEM (chemical flood reservoir simulator developed at the University of Texas at Austin ) files for the reservoir grid properties and production data, and makes available full capabilities for creating XY plots, and 2D and 3D grid plots.

Quick RFT Plot
The Quick RFT plot is used when exploring 3D grid solutions. Users can click on any grid cell, and the Quick RFT will create a plot of the current grid variable versus depth for the column cells that includes the selected cell. This provides a very fast method for exploring the grid and for understanding how the grid properties vary with depth.

Periodic Production Rates
This new feature provides a calculation of averaged production rates for selected time periods for selected wells and other entities. The user selects the wells/entities, the production variable, and the time-averaging period. The averaging period may be weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually. A table is generated to provide the user with the periodic production rate for the selected period over the full date range of the data. The table also provides the average daily rate during each period and an average daily rate based on only the days for which each well was producing during each period. The user may then select to export the table to a CSV file, which may be imported into a spreadsheet or an economics analysis application.

Binned Integration
The integration tool has been modified to provide a new capability that allows the integrated grid solution to be binned (subdivided) based on a selected grid variable or parameter. The user selects the binning variable, and then specifies either the number of bins (subdivisions) or the bin interval to determine the range of the bins. The computation then integrates the grid solution to provide the results for each bin in a table. The total for all cells is also provided. As a special case the selected binning variable can be the time step, which results in an integration of the grid property over time. A reservoir engineer could use this capability to calculate the oil depletion over time for example.
