The Team StataCorp is pleased to announce the availability of Stata 16 (rev.13062023) is a complete, integrated statistical package that provides everything you need for data analysis, data management, and graphics.
1. egen function group(varlist), label, when varlist contains large integers, now creates better labels. Large integers are now kept in an integer format in the label. Previously, large integers were placed in the label in an exponential format.
2. egen function group(), when used with noninteger variables when the number of observations was greater than 50,000, sometimes gave a Mata error message and did not produce a result. This has been fixed.
3. isid, when not specified with using filename and when a string identifier began or ended with a blank space, did not retain the sort order of the data in memory. This has been fixed.
4. proportion, when specified with option citype(exact) and more than one constant variable, incorrectly exited with an unhelpful error message. It now produces the requested proportion estimates.

Stata is the package of choice for panel data, survival analysis, time series, survey data, longitudinal data, multilevel models, SEM, endogenous covariates, sample selection, Bayesian analysis, multiple imputation, LCA, causal inference, and much more. Stata makes modeling and inference easy for all types of outcomes – continuous, binary, ordinal, categorical, count, and fractional. Stata has both a point-and-click interface and a powerful, programmable, and reproducible command syntax.
Stata/SE is like Stata/MP, but for single CPUs, and will run on multiple CPUs or multiple-core computers, but it will use only one CPU or core. Stata/SE has a larger memory footprint and uses that extra memory for larger look-aside tables to more efficiently process large datasets and can analyze up to 2 billion observations. SE stands for standard edition.
Stata 16 is a big release, which our releases usually are. This one is broader than usual. It ranges from lasso to Python and from multiple datasets in memory to multiple chains in Bayesian analysis.
