The Simcenter development team is pleased to announce the availability of Simcenter Flotherm PCB 2021.1.0 is a unique, software program for streamlining concept development of printed-circuit boards (PCBs), while ensuring good thermal design and accelerating the PCB design process.
Simcenter Flotherm PCB 2021.1.0 Release Notes - Date: May 2021
The following new features are available in this release:
• Compatibility with Simcenter Flotherm 2021.1
- All models and library items are fully compatible with Simcenter Flotherm 2021.1
• Floscript extended. Support of some of the features of EDA Bridge have been added
• Files can be recorded using the Macro menu in either Simcenter Flotherm or EDA Bridge.
- Note that it is not possible to record actions carried out in the graphics display area such as moving or resizing components.
• Files can be played from the macro menu.
• Supported Actions
- Load, Save, Save As, Transfer, Quit. Import ODB, Import CSV Layout, Import FLOEDA.
- Filter Components (all options will be written into the Floscript in SI), Component Library Swap
Note that the above two commands (Filter Component and Library Swap) will not be written into the log file during the import of board design (dialogs will need to be cancelled). However, they will be recorded when those commands are used from the Tools menu after the import.
- Create motherboards, daughterboards and other objects.
- Edit properties of all the object property sheets (exceptions – No support for importing the layer or Via images).
• Unsupported Actions.
- Edit & View menu operations are not supported.
- Import of images for use with layers and electrical vias.
Note that images will be imported as part of an ODB++ file import or if included in the floeda file.
- Processing of layers to produce patches.
• Scaling option for images imported with ODB++ file. When an ODB++ file is imported the copper trace information is translated into an image. In some instances, particularly for very small boards, the resolution is not sufficient to capture the exact detail of the trace. A scaling option has been added to the GUI preferences in EDA Bridge.
- Valid range 1 (default) – 99.
- Note that larger numbers will require more processing time.

- FLT-9813 - "gen_fs-2005-Unable to create directory" error during ODB++ import
- FLT-10546 - Electrical vias overlap metallic layers for certain models
- FLT-10549 - Thermal vias overlap metallic layers for certain models
- FLT-11161 - Trend boards with cutouts produce incorrect effective conductivities
- FLT-11659 - EDA components placed within a functional group aren’t reported in ‘EDA Components’ results table
