Siemens Digital Industries Software has released NX 2506 Build 5001 (NX 2506 Series). This software helps designers and manufacturers deliver better products faster using powerful, integrated CAD and CAM solutions that realize the full value of the digital twin.
With the 2506 release of NX, we are excited to deliver a truly unified platform that seamlessly blends immersive experiences, AI-driven capabilities, cloud-powered flexibility, and a connected digital thread, empowering you to move from design to manufacturing with unprecedented speed and clarity. This release is shaped by your feedback and real-world challenges, ensuring that every new feature supports your need for collaboration, automation, and a single source of truth across CAD, CAM, and Additive Manufacturing.
Enhancements in NX 2506 Build 5001 (NX 2506 Series)
Collaborating real-time on designs
You can collaborate in real-time to work simultaneously with multiple designers on the same part or assembly in NX X. To do this, use the Create Live Share Meeting command. You can host a meeting, and other participants can join in. Everyone can then work collaboratively on the assembly or do design reviews together, and see the impact of changes immediately. This is also useful when you have common interfaces in your design, where multiple NX X users must interact with a single part. The following describes a typical workflow for such a meeting, when you use Teamcenter X for your built-in data management.
1. As the host, you check out the assembly from Teamcenter X and create a meeting using the Create Live Share Meeting command. NX X uses the name of the assembly as the default name of the meeting. NX X also automatically copies the meeting link to the clipboard.
2. You share the meeting link with the participants.
3. These participants join the meeting using the Join Live Share Meeting command.
4. You, along with the participants, work on the assembly. A participant can leave the meeting and rejoin. When a participant rejoins or joins a meeting late, NX X refreshes the meeting session and syncs the latest updates to the part.
5. Whenever someone makes a change to the assembly, NX X syncs the updates so that everyone in the meeting can view the latest updates.
6. After the changes to the assembly are completed, the participants leave the meeting using the Leave Live Share Meeting command. You, as the host, can leave the meeting and rejoin while other participants continue to collaborate in the meeting.
7. You, as the host, must save the updates and check in the part to Teamcenter X.
As a host, you can view participants using their avatars on the top right corner of the Ribbon bar. You can click an avatar to see more details about a participant. You can also use the Manage Live Share Meeting command to join a meeting, copy the meeting ID, or to end the meeting. As a host, you can also get a brief summary of the parts that have been modified in the meeting along with the participants who have modified the parts. To do this, in the Manage Live Share Meeting dialog box, use the Show Meeting Report option. NX X displays the information in the Information window.
NoteStoring the orientation angles of ship profiles
- You can participate in multiple such meetings, but you can host only one meeting at a time.
- Only the host, who has checked out the assembly or part from Teamcenter X, can save and check in the part. Participants can only work on the part during the meeting.
- NX X supports such meetings only when you are in the Modeling application or the Assemblies application.
- Only journaled commands are available in such meetings.
When you create a stiffener or edge reinforcement, you can now store nonzero start and end orientation angles as attributes. You can use these attributes for downstream manufacturing processes.
NX assigns the following attributes to the component part and the solid body:
- SA_COMPONENT_ORIENTATION_ANGLE_START
- SA_COMPONENT_ORIENTATION_ANGLE_END
NX does not assign the attributes to stiffener systems and edge reinforcement systems that you create in the Ship Structure Basic Design application. When you transition the systems to a detail design, NX assigns the attributes to the resulting detail stiffeners and edge reinforcements that have nonzero orientation angles.
