Concurrent styling and engineering


It is often difficult to successfully conduct concurrent styling and engineering due to the use of disparate tools and competing priorities, which inhibit efficient and effective communication across departments. Mastertrim now officially supports NX Realize Shape™ software and CATIA - Imagine & Shape software. This support enables stylists and engineers to more seamlessly estimate the impact of styling changes on cost and manufacturing workflows. Because of this enhanced ability to remain fully aligned throughout the design and manufacturing process, users are more rapidly able to create quality, cost-effective designs that meet their styling needs.

Concavity analysis


Concavity in seat design often causes manufacturing issues for trim manufacturers. Mastertrim developers noticed this had become a reoccurring issue for our users. As a result, Mastertrim 15 provides a producibility display that detects concavity during the design process. This new feature has the potential to save time by identifying producibility issues early in the design cycle.

Darting


A utility to automatically create dart geometry and assign pieces has been added to Mastertrim 15. This new feature better supports pieces and processes, which enable darts to be created automatically, eliminating the need for manually defining them. Dart creation can be launched from the Mastertrim 15 toolbar while a cover piece, backing pad or close out isselected.

2D editing of sketches


The export of patterns from 2D software in order to do clean up and make minor changes is often inefficient. Mastertrim 15 supports automatic updates to its data when a user leverages the powerful 3D computer-aided design (CAD) tools to edit flat pattern sketches. Minor edits such as smoothing out edges, extending/trimming patterns and adding/deleting notches are supported. With the new ability to edit patterns in 3D CAD, you can save time and add support for unique pattern requirements that cannot be fulfilled using 3D flattening.
