PTC has launched the next generation of its Creo 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software, Creo 7.0.7.0. The software’s new capabilities put the power of artificial intelligence (AI) at designers’ fingertips, making simulation a seamless part of daily work.
What's new in Creo 7.0.7.0
Default Embedded Browser of Creo Parametric Changed to Chromium
In Creo 7.0.7.0 and later, the default embedded browser of Creo Parametric is Chromium.
Previously, Internet Explorer was the default browser. You can still set it as the default browser by using the configuration option windows_browser_type.
This change is made because Microsoft has announced the end of support for Internet Explorer starting June 15, 2022. While the embedded browser version of Internet Explorer will continue to function, it will no longer be supported in Creo 7.0, and if issues are encountered, PTC will not update the Internet Explorer integration.
We recommend that you use Chromium as the default embedded browser and stay up to date with the latest supported versions.
Volume Split in Mold
This enhancement streamlines the process of splitting a mold volume in the Mold Design application.
This enhancement is applicable to the following use cases in splitting a mold volume:
- Splitting into two separate volumes, where one volume contains the selected volumes of the mold design and another volume contains the unselected volumes split from the mold design.
- Splitting a single volume out of the mold design, so that the volume contains multiple selected islands split from the mold design.
- Splitting the mold design into multiple separate volumes.
Previously, the One Volume option was present in the Menu Manager and not in the dashboard user interface. This enhancement removes that limitation.
This enhancement adds more flexibility and control when defining mold volumes.
ModelCHECK Verifies the Saved Status of Layers
Companies often have standards for the layers required in a model and for their visibility. You must check the saved status of those layers to ensure that the models adhere to the company standards.
Previously, the existing LAYER_STATUS check could only verify the layers based on their current visibility. Even if the LAYER_STATUS check passed in ModelCHECK, if that layer display status was not saved, the layer display reverted to the last saved status when the model was closed, which might conflict with the company standards.
The new LAYER_SAVED_STATUS check ensures that the last saved layer display status adheres to the company standards. If there is a conflict, it warns you that you need to fix the display status and save the status.
Configuration Option to Update the Calculating Method of Pattern Origin
For patterns that were created with the older method of calculating the origin (see Article-CS329222), the new configuration option pattern_origin_calc_update defines whether to update to a newer, more accurate method when you edit the definition of the pattern.
Creo helps designers build better products faster by facilitating product innovation, fostering design reuse, and replacing assumptions with facts. Designers can go from the earliest phases of product design to a smart, connected product all within a single environment.
The Creo 7.0 launch follows PTC’s recent acquisition of Onshape, developer of the Onshape Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product development platform, demonstrating the company’s deep commitment to providing innovative technology – via multiple delivery models – to drive business value.
Creo 7.0 introduces breakthrough capabilities in generative design, real-time simulation, and additive manufacturing, in addition to numerous productivity enhancements such as multi-body design.
Creo 7.0 - Top Enhancements
This video demos the new Generative Topology Optimization extension, powered by Frustum, which combines topology optimization and simulation algorithms to generate a series of optimized results focused on manufacturing criteria, running seamlessly in Creo Parametric. This was introduced in Creo 7.0.
PTC enables global manufacturers to realize double-digit impact with software solutions that enable them to accelerate product and service innovation, improve operational efficiency, and increase workforce productivity. In combination with an extensive partner network, PTC provides customers flexibility in how its technology can be deployed to drive digital transformation – on premises, in the cloud, or via its pure SaaS platform. At PTC, we don’t just imagine a better world, we enable it.

Creo applications are supported in many languages at three levels in the order shown.
- Character support
- Localized user interfaces
- Localized documentation
With character support for a language, characters appear accurately on the screen when you type and when you view items such as drawings or 3D notes. Character support for a language does not always mean that the user interface or related documentation is also available in that language.
Character support is available for the following languages, which are listed in order of implementation from English through Slovak.
