Timbal is a Brazilian percussive instrument derived from Caxambu used mainly in the cultural afro-brazilian niche. It became popular in Brazil during the 90's with a group called Timbalada founded by musician Carlinhos Brown. The traditional Timbal is 14 inches in width and 35 inches in height. The instrument has rich harmonics and has great rhythmic power. Very popular with musical genres such as Axé and Pagode. Currently the instrument is also used in other genres in Brazilian music.
The Timbal was recorded by the great musician and composer Marcos Nascimento (Sérgio Pererê/ Tambolelê) exploring rich rhythms from different styles such as Maracatu, Afoxé and Samba Duro. No hundreds of effects and loads of knobs which you don't use. Each effect has been made to enhance the sample intelligently. All the samples are carefully recorded using Apogee converters and preamps. Everything recorded at 44100Hz, 24bit. Use the convolution reverb and create a perfect environment. Unlike other Brazilian libraries each instrument is recorded with dry ambience preserving the real character of the instrument. The samples offer from the slightest touch to the strongest attack providing more freedom to create dynamic rhythms and beats.
