With the introduction of AI-powered automation, MicroStation 2025 transforms how users approach design challenges by integrating the intuitive Python Assistant. - Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles Support (Tech Preview): Natively incorporate geospatial data for design context and big-picture awareness. This provides a powerful 3D geospatial experience for the built and natural environment, enabling integration of massive 3D geospatial context data from various sources. Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles will be available as a Tech Preview.
- Google Maps Integration: MicroStation 2025 now supports high-quality Google 2D Maps, replacing outdated Bing Maps. This brings superior image quality, accuracy, and more recent data for instant real-world site context. Bing Maps for Enterprise will be deprecated, with services ending June 30, 2028; MicroStation 2025 onwards will use Google Maps only.
- Geospatial Context in Python API: Write Python scripts to automate tasks and work with geospatial context within MicroStation, saving time, reducing errors, and improving design visualization.
- Esri File Geodatabase Support: Efficiently import and export Esri File Geodatabases, including options for reprojection, multi-file operations, and ProjectWise integration. This improves interoperability between your design environment and GIS.
- Esri ArcGIS Feature Services – Cell Fixed Size: Point features from ArcGIS Feature Services now benefit from Cell Fixed Size in Element Templates. This ensures cells retain a consistent on-screen size regardless of zoom level, improving clarity and user experience.
- OGC 3D Tiles Support: Accessing 3DTiles format stored in the Reality Management portal is now possible via Reality Mesh Attachments, enabling seamless integration of rich, multi-resolution 3D geospatial data for enhanced design context and visualization.
- OGC API Feature Service (Tech Preview): Access OGC API Feature Services directly from the Geospatial context workflow. This modern, standards-based integration streamlines connectivity to dynamic geospatial data sources, improving interoperability and real-time data access.

Point Cloud Enhancements

Experience transformative efficiency and precision in your infrastructure projects with MicroStation 2025’s advanced point cloud capabilities. Seamlessly integrate and visualize massive, geospatially accurate 3D datasets through direct 3D Tile Point Cloud attachment, while optimized rendering boosts productivity by delivering smoother, faster interactions. These enhancements empower users to handle complex real-world data with ease, unlocking new levels of clarity and performance in design and analysis.

- 3D Tile Point Cloud (Tech Preview): Attach 3D Tiles (JSON) point cloud datasets directly through the Attach Point Cloud from Reality Management interface. This new capability enables seamless integration of rich, geospatial 3D data into your projects.
- Point Cloud Optimization: Rendering efficiency has been significantly enhanced through point cloud optimization. Users will experience faster zooming, panning, and overall interaction with point cloud data. These improvements apply to both Web Ready Point Clouds (OPC) and 3D Tiles Point Clouds (JSON).

Performance & Other Enhancements

Experience substantial productivity gains and greater interoperability for users. Key improvements—such as dramatically faster processing of conditional expressions, adoption of modern C++20 features, and support for the latest RealDWG 2026—mean users will experience significantly reduced wait times, seamless integration with industry-standard formats, and compatibility with cutting-edge technologies. These advancements ensure that MicroStation 2025 remains a powerful, future-ready platform, capable of supporting complex workflows and diverse project requirements with enhanced efficiency and reliability.

- IFC Export: IFC export in MicroStation enables open, standardized data sharing across industry technologies. By using Item Types to embed custom properties on objects, both geometry and metadata are preserved in the IFC file. This allows MicroStation to play a key role in projects that rely on a variety of model types. It supports regulatory compliance, improves coordination, and ensures long-term data accessibility.
- Conditional Expressions Performance: A new evaluation process for Conditional Expressions significantly improves performance for designs containing conditional "IIF" statements, leading to increased productivity. Processing time can be reduced from 50 seconds to 6 seconds.
- C++20: MicroStation 2025 will utilize C++20, allowing users to benefit from major C++20 features. Partners and developers with C++ applications will need to recompile their source code. Click here for more information.
- RealDWG 2026: MicroStation 2025 supports the latest version of Autodesk's software development kit (SDK) that provides reliable and accurate DWG/DXF access. It allows developers to read and write DWG files created with AutoCAD software, ensuring compatibility with the most current version of AutoCAD.
- New Example Dataset: MicroStation 2025 includes a new example dataset that showcases the new features developed in MicroStation in a realistic design setting. For example, the River Bridge data set is Geospatially located providing context with Google’s Map Integration.
