Forming Technologies Inc. (FTI) the industry’s leading developer of solutions for design, simulation, planning and costing of sheet metal components, today announced the worldwide release of FormingSuite v10.0 software. The main objective of FormingSuite v10.0 software is to introduce new leading edge technology to stamping simulation and to provide continuous improvement to all users in a unified collaborative environment.
FormingSuite v10.0 software embraces customer’s demands of delivering productivity enhancements whilst improving the speed and performance of all simulation solvers (CHI, dFIT, LS-DYNA, Springback, and Nesting). “These developments continue our mission to supply the stamping industry with the world’s easiest to learn and easiest to use wizard-based stamping software. This new software release signify a major step in FTI analysis capabilities. Our focus of ‘accuracy on demand’ and ‘cost knowledge for all’ gives our customers a huge competitive advantage”, said Dan Marinac, Director Business Development at FTI. “Those benefits, coupled with continuous improvements in our core strengths in cost reduction, blank development, stamping simulation accuracy and springback prediction, deliver great value to FTI’s customers”. This latest release includes several new features, such as:
- Advancements in Springback Simulation
New forming constraints to simulate clamping for positioning in jig and fixture tooling
New Springback alignment feature to position the results relative to the original part
Improved NAS and STL file export for CAD springback compensation
- New Measuring Tools for FormingSuite to eliminate the need for users going to CAD dimensional information
- Optional direct 3D CAD data translators for reading NX, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, JT, Pro/ENGINEER, etc.
FormingSuite provides cost optimization, forming simulation and blank prediction tools for sheet metal stampings. It reads in IGES, STEP and VDA surface data. The current products available in FormingSuite are:
- FASTBLANK (FB),
- FASTFORM (FF),
- FASTFORM Advanced (FFA),
- FASTFORM Multistage (MS),
- FAST Incremental (FI),
- BLANKNEST (BN),
- PROGNEST (PN),
- STRIPNEST (SN),
- Cost Optimizer (CO),
- Cost Optimizer Advanced (COA),
- Process Planner (PP)
Changes in FormingSuite 10.0
––––––––––––––-
General:
Improved server license check-out and check-in procedures
Updated licensing for direct CAD translator add-ins
Overhauled measuring tools to provide more functionality and measuring scenarios
Part Definition Workbench:
Users can now specify whether to create surfaces for double attached function
Improved robustness of double attached surface creation
Process Definition Workbench:
Added ability to calculate trim lines for trimming operations (using new "DFIT" solver)
Forming Workbench:
New "DFIT" direct solver now available to multistage and incremental users
DFIT solver supports user defined blanks and trimming operations for multistage operations
Improved modelling of early section of stress strain curve in all solvers
Improved handling of non-zero edge displacement constraints in multistage solver when using a curved binder
Springback Workbench:
Updated springback solver
Added springback constraints
Added springback alignment tool
Progressive Nesting Workbench:
Added ability to specify the "Die Plane" - the position of the blank along the tip axis with respect to the part
Updated carrier edge condition display to consider die plane position and full 3D displacement
Updated carrier condition viewer to work for both the part and the layout (in previous releases, this was done in separate viewers)
Layout Editing Workbench:
Layout editing operations now permit the cropping of holes and material added during double attached creation
Tooling Workbench:
Added icons to tooling viewer to toggle tool display
Added option to show blank in tooling viewer
Updated display logic in tooling viewer so tools move according to the direction they will move in the analysis
Added ability to specify standoff height in blankholder definition on right click menu
Tooling viewer can now be opened before tools for all operations have been imported
Incremental Workbench:
Updated tooling position algorithm
Updated trimming algorithm
Added max velocity and displacement for blankholder and pressure pad closing
Added support for standoffs in blankholder definition
Updated analysis templates to support max blankholder and pressure pad speed
Added option to export forming mesh in STL format (for any step in solution)
Added option to export final result in dyna format for downstream use in other analyses
Process Planner Workbench:
Updated automated operations setup engine
Updated operations naming
Updated design of operations table - first column is now fixed, you can highlight all features in an operation by clicking on the header, you can drag a feature from one operation to another
Updated excel report
Now evaluates and stores sub-operation direction
Improved handling of flanges along double attachment edge
