ESSS announces Rocky 2023 R1.1 (23.1.1), the new release of its best-in-class multiphysics particle simulation software. This version includes significant advancements with a fully integrated SPH solver and expanded coupling with Ansys Fluent.

What's New in Rocky 2023 R1.1 (23.1.1) - Date: March 17, 2023

Bug Fixes:
- The issue where user processes linked to motion frames would have their initial position in relation to the local Coordinate system of the motion frame was fixed.
- The issue where deleting Rocky through Workbench was not working was fixed.
- The issue where an error would appear when trying to post-process a Fluent 2-way coupled simulation inside Workbench was fixed.
- The issue where the simulation would suddenly stop at the disable time of a wall was fixed.
- The issue where a simulation with imported surface linked to a motion frame that has free body motion would throw an error was fixed.
- The issue where a project with Regions of Interest would throw an error when importing Fluent 1-way coupling results was fixed.
- The issue where the statistics of CFD Coupling Particle statistics would show undefined minimum and maximum values was fixed.
- The issue where the statistics calculations of curves created from properties were being unexpectedly triggered was fixed.
- The issue where the solver would crash when the ROCKY_PLUGIN_COMPUTE_VICINITY_DISTANCE hook returned relatively small values was fixed.
- The issue where a Fluent CFD coupling simulation with interface and energy enabled would throw an error was fixed.
- The issue where the Chapter 6 of the API:Solver manual was missing was fixed.
- The issue where the mesh visualization of a Fluent 1-way time periodic coupling simulation would not be updated after the first cycle was fixed.
- The issue where the contact detection would not happen for a simulation with extremely high triangle velocities was fixed.
- The issue where particle info tab moments of inertia values would not update was fixed.
- The issue where opening a project would raise an error if a module property was set by script or parametric variable was fixed.
- The issue where the Cell Volume scalar was incorrectly computed in modules related to Fluent 2-way coupled simulations was fixed.
- The issue where Scheduler would display 100% progress regardless of the job real progress was fixed.
- The issue where the turbulent viscosity unit was wrong was fixed.
- The issue where a Fluent 2-way coupled simulation with thermal modelling enabled would have the temperature values overshooting was fixed.
- The issue where the particles and fluids injected by inlets linked to imported surfaces would be injected far away from the correct position was fixed.

ESSS Rocky DEM 2023 R1.1 (23.1.1)

Rocky DEMis a powerful, 3D discrete element modeling (DEM) program that quickly and accurately simulates particle behavior within a conveyor chute, mill, or other materials handling system. Rocky analyzes media flow patterns and energy absorption rates, particle breakage, and energy spectra analysis. The software optimizes life expectancy of conveyor belts and components, minimizes material spillage in a design, and reduces the need for dust control and suppression, among numerous other applications. This software is a revolutionary way to handle a problem through computer simulation. With ROCKY for ANSYS particle simulation can be extended with important structural and flow-mechanical information. These are achieved by a complete integration in ANSYS Workbench. The compact and user-friendly user interface of ROCKY for ANSYS ensures uncomplicated installation and operation. CAD geometries can also be imported easily and quickly.
The 2023 R1 version of Rocky includes significant advancements with a fully integrated SPH solver and expanded coupling with Ansys Fluent.

Extend your multiphysics simulations with Rocky DEM and Ansys integration

Rocky DEM and Ansys integration lets you analyze complex problems from a new perspective: particle dynamics coupled with the Ansys multiphysics simulation solution.
