ESI FOAM-X 2022.0 | 284.9 mb
ESI Group, a leading innovator in virtual prototyping software and services for manufacturing industries, announces the new version of FOAM-X 2022.0 is standalone utility for quick characterization of the acoustic properties of open cell porous materials from impedance tube measurements.
FOAM-X 2022.0 Release Notes - Date: April 2022
Enhancements
General
- Tube-X import module can import 3-microphones 2-cavities method project file.
Database
- An image can be attached to a material.
Inverse Method – Equivalent Fluid – General Porous
- User can now fix the ratio value between the thermal and viscous lengths. Note that for a fibrous model, this ratio is fixed to 2.
- A right-click function called “Apply value on the entire column” available on thickness, diameter and cavity depth columns allows you to duplicate a value in each box of the entire column.
Indirect Method – Equivalent Fluid – General Porous
- A right-click function called “Apply value on the entire column” available on thickness column allows you to duplicate a value in each box of this column.
Indirect Method – Equivalent Fluid – Advanced User – General Porous
- A right-click function called “Apply value on the entire column” available on thickness column allows you to duplicate a value in each box of this column.
Inverse Method – Equivalent Fluid – Perforated Plate
- A right-click function called “Apply value on the entire column” available on thickness and cavity depth columns allows you to duplicate a value in each box of the entire column.
Inverse Method – Equivalent Fluid – Fabric
- A right-click function called “Apply value on the entire column” available on thickness and cavity depth columns allows you to duplicate a value in each box of the entire column.
Corrections
- #FOAMX-2 – Microsoft SQL Server Express LocalDB 2019 installer language was not English.
- #FOAMX-9 – Bounds on porosity in advance user’s options was not take into account correctly for equivalent fluid inverse method. When Solver Type in option window is set to 1, bounds on porosity are ignored and automatically set between 0.85 and 0.999. If user wants to change porosity bounds, solver type must differ from 1.

FOAM-X is an advanced software used for defining acoustical properties of open-cell porous materials, perforated plates and resistive layers, based on impedance tube measurements following ASTM E1050 or ISO 10534-2, or transmission tube measurement following ASTM E2611. The parameters found with FOAM-X are compatible with poroelastic material modules of commercially available programs such as VA One, and NOVA. All of these modules use the extended Biot’s theory to describe finely porous materials.
