    Autodesk announced the release of Maya 2008 Extension 2 software, which provides enhanced creative control over polygon modeling and UV texturing, as well as significant improvements to the Maya Muscle toolset. Autodesk® Maya® 2008 Extension 2 is available exclusively to Autodesk Subscription customers with Gold Support—both those with Maya Complete and Maya Unlimited licenses.

    Model Efficiently
    Efficient, new selection management features— including preselection highlighting, Tweak mode and soft selection for the translate, rotate, and scale (TRS) tools—give you a fast, yet precise workflow for controlling large amounts of complex geometry: enabling significant productivity gains. Plus, symmetrical modeling has been made faster and more accurate.

    Lay Out UVs Faster
    New and enhanced UV workflow tools give you far more control over your texturing—enabling you to achieve your desired results faster.

    Create Detailed Skin Animation
    This release builds on the comprehensive Maya Muscle system released in Maya 2008 Extension 1. New features and enhanced workflows extend the animator or technical director’s ability to precisely direct muscle and skin behavior: this includes a new smart collisions toolset, support for three new forces, and the ability to displace skin.

    Key features and enhancements offered in Autodesk Maya 2008 Extension 2 include:
    – Superior Modeling Workflow: New selection management features offer
    modelers a fast and precise workflow for controlling large amounts of
    complex geometry. Also, symmetrical modeling has been enhanced through
    such additions as seam preservation functionality.

    – Faster Texturing through Streamlined UV Workflows: New and enhanced UV
