Autodesk has released PowerMill 2026 HF1 is a leading CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software primarily used for programming toolpaths for complex 3-axis and 5-axis CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machines.

    What's new in PowerMill 2026

    General improvements
    - Recent work to optimise our calculation kernel has resulted in a significant general performance boost for the product. The impact is most noticeable in the more substantial calculations, such as toolpaths, verification, certain toolpath edits, stock model, ViewMill, and machine collision detection. Testing on toolpath calculations shows a performance boost of about 15% on average, with some timings for longer toolpaths being reduced by up to 25%.
    - Calculation times for spiral toolpaths that use both the Redistribute option Point Distribution and the Automatic method of Collision Avoidance have been improved.
    - When applying the Toolpath Limit edit operation with respect to a polygon, it is now possible for the limiting to be done with respect to the visible sections of the toolpath only, as viewed down the direction perpendicular to the plane of the limiting polygon.

    PowerMill 2026.0.1 update
    The fixes in PowerMill 2026.0.1.

    Toolpath fixes
    - A problem has been fixed that caused PowerMill to close unexpectedly whilst calculating Constant Z and Steep and Shallow toolpaths. PMILL-11324, PMILL-20640
    General fixes
    - A problem has been fixed where importing an entity from the clipboard could cause other entities in the destination project to be reordered. PMILL-23024
    - A problem has been fixed that prevented PowerMill 2026 from starting on PCs with CPUs that don’t support the POPCNT instruction. The POPCNT instruction was first introduced in CPUs that were available in 2007. LET-2882
    Customer error reporting (CER) fixes
    - A problem has been fixed that caused PowerMill to close unexpectedly during shutdown when run in a COM context. This issue was identified by CER. PMILL-23217
    - A problem has been fixed that caused PowerMill to close unexpectedly when collision checking against stock and model. This issue was identified by CER. PMILL-23129
    - A problem has been fixed that caused PowerMill to close unexpectedly when calculating a Rib Machining toolpath. This issue was identified by CER. PMILL-23187

PowerMill is Autodesk’s CAM solution for high-speed and five-axis machining. It offers a comprehensive range of strategies and powerful editing tools to ensure efficient, safe and accurate machining, especially for companies that are using sophisticated CNC machine tools to produce complex shapes in challenging materials. PowerMill is used in a wide range of industries but is particularly successful in mold, tool and die, complex aerospace and automotive applications.

    PowerMill Workflow Overview

In this course, we will take a look at using PowerMill to program a variety of different 3D to 5 Axis milled parts. The main objective of this course is to teach you the workflow of programming parts in PowerMill. By focusing on the workflow as opposed to specific tools and details of the software, we lay the foundation for understanding PowerMill, for further courses on PowerMill and enable you to assess whether PowerMill can meet your part programming needs.
Autodesk helps people imagine, design and create a better world. Everyone—from design professionals, engineers and architects to digital artists, students and hobbyists—uses Autodesk software to unlock their creativity and solve important challenges.
