Altair Virtual Wind Tunnel 2017.1

Altair announced the latest version of its Virtual Wind Tunnel (VWT) software, is a vertical solution for external aerodynamics. The streamlined workflow in combination with customizable automatic result reporting ensures quick turnaround times during the development cycle.

Altair’s HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel is a vertical application tailored for external aerodynamic studies. Designed with the users’ needs in mind, the graphical user interface provides easy access to problem definition and solution strategies. The automated and customizable report generation after each simulation run provides a consistent method for design evaluation. HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel integrates smoothly with other Altair products.

What's new and changed in Virtual Wind Tunnel 2017.1

- Frontal area visualization
The result of the frontal area computation is a planar quadrilateral mesh with reclusively refined regions around the borders. It approximates the area of the frontal silhouette of the object, e.g. a car. The computed mesh can be displayed on a plane in front of the object by turning on/off a check box in the results section of the run dialog. The visualization of the computed frontal area is transparent, which makes it easy to compare the approximation with the real silhouette of the object when viewing from the front.
