Altair HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel 2017.0

Altair announced a new release of HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel 2017, is a vertical solution for external aerodynamics. The streamlined workflow in combination with customizable automatic result reporting ensures quick turnaround times during the development cycle.

Altair’s HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel is a vertical application tailored for external aerodynamic studies. Designed with the users’ needs in mind, the graphical user interface provides easy access to problem definition and solution strategies. The automated and customizable report generation after each simulation run provides a consistent method for design evaluation. HyperWorks Virtual Wind Tunnel integrates smoothly with other Altair products.

What's new and changed in Virtual Wind Tunnel 2017.0

- Frontal are computation
A new algorithm has been implemented to provide higher accuracy for the frontal are computation. Based on a sophisticated recursive refinement strategy the frontal area is computed with high accuracy for complex model like production level automotive model, as well as for simple cases like a box or a sphere model.
- Fixed Issues
For some situations the default first layer height became zero.
The element sizes in the default refinement zones were incorrect.
