Altair Flow Simulator V18R1.1 | 249.4 mb
Altair is pleased to add GE’s Flow Simulator software to the Altair Partner Alliance (APA) and to announce the availability of version V18R1.1. Flow Simulator is an integrated flow, heat transfer, and combustion design software that enables mixed fidelity simulations to optimize machine and systems design.
Flow Simulator V18R1 Patch 1 Release Notes:
BUG FIXES
- Fixed inter-operability issues between Probabilistic, Multi-Case Creator, and Model Import with MS Excel.
- Fixed a bug in which Tubes/Pipes coupled with Thermal Convection Elements had incorrect Heat Transfer when the element flow direction was reversed.
- Fixed a bug in which Tubes/Pipes that are coupled to Thermal Convection Element become nonselectable and non-editable by left-clicking.
- Fixed a bug where Emulsion-type Custom Material secondary fluid fraction is incorrect.
- Fixed a reader crash that occurred when two Emulsion-type Custom Materials are in a model.
- Fixed a bug in which some Flow Element types were not displaying Volumetric Flow Rate results.
- Fixed a bug in which reversed element flow markers (yellow rings) stay even when results were cleared, new results were loaded, or reversed flow markers were turned off.
- Fixed a bug in which there were sporadic crashes caused by deleting a thermal network.
- Fixed a bug in which the “Open Documentation in Browser” button was not working intermittently. The documentation “Search” button was fixed too.
- Fixed a bug in which Flow Simulator crashes while loading binary IGES files.
- Fixed a bug in which rotation and 3D orientation information on Tee and Wye Junctions was not saved.
- Fixed a bug in which the PID negative feedback option did not take effect.
IMPROVEMENTS
- Added Edit-Undo capability for Flow Element subtype change.
- Added Results XML output to Python-based User-Defined Element (UDE). Now UDE results will show up in the Results Viewer window. Made minor user-interface improvements to streamline UDE creation and editing.
- Improved Model Merge feature to work with model files directly instead of import files.
- Improved Solver Convergence behavior of flow models with Tee Junction elements.
- Added logic to allow model convergence only if Tube/Pipe elements inner loop convergence criteria are satisfied.
- Improved behavior of Model Browser’s Isolate Groups feature.
- Improved Datum Plane feature to help with 3D Model building.
- Improved Solver Error and Warning messages, which are written to the convhist_fi.out. Improved user-interface’s Model Checker input error checks for Plate-Fin HX Element.
- Improved accuracy of non-converged results for models that run with the Robust Multigrid solver and do not converge.
NEW CAPABILITIES
- Added Thermal Network Coupling with all Compressible Gas Tube/Pipe elements.
- Added Liquid Nitrogen, Liquid Ammonia, and Liquid Methane fluid properties.
About Altair Flow Simulator. This fluid system design tool provides interdisciplinary modeling and optimization capabilities within a single platform for machine design with respect to fluid dynamics, thermal, and combustion within a 3D design environment. This tool allows users to import actual hardware and utilization of 3D CAD point-cloud to automatically create the computational model overlaid on the machine hardware. An extended library of preconfigured elements and components is available to simulate a wide-range of physical phenomena including; compressible and incompressible fluid flow; buoyancy-driven flow; rotating cavity system flow; conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer; and combustion equilibrium-chemistry and species transport.
Flow Simulator can be used in many industries including aerospace, power generation, oil & gas power conversion, transportation, additive manufacturing, automotive, and others. The capabilities of GE’s Flow Simulator cover a wide range of applications within these industries including; turbomachinery rotating cavity systems, secondary flow and engine sealing, combustor cooling, fuel and lube systems, and power plan piping networks.
