Post-hardcore icons The Used have just announced the release of their seventh studio album, the 17-track, double disc The Canyon, which will serve as the successor to 2014's Imaginary Enemy. The Ross Robinson-produced record will come out on Oct. 27 through Hopeless Records.Tracklist:
The album will be the first without longtime guitarist Quinn Allman, who left the group in late 2015 and was replaced by Saosin six-stringer Justin Shekoski. Recent years have seen The Used drift away from the more aggressive elements that made up their early style and "Over and Over Again" marks a further departure from this with a heavily pop-leaning sound. Jangling guitars and a catchy drum beat reminiscent of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" make this an instantly memorable offering, a notion that is increased tenfold after watching this peculiar video.
“I’ve learned as an artist that a great idea is such a gift. If I don’t stop whatever it is I’m doing, even if while driving, if I don’t pull over at that moment, then maybe I didn’t deserve the idea to begin with. I learned to respect and worship the ideas in that way, that they are and will always be something sacred. Stopping in that moment was a brand new approach for us during this process," commented frontman Bert McCracken about the forthcoming record.
