As promised, a lossless version of Sui Poemi Concentrici for soloists and orchestra. The piece was commissioned by the Italian broadcast corporation RAI, and meant to be a musical interpretation of Dante’s Divina Commedia. Sciarrino decided to ignore the text, and make it a trpartite instrumental composition focusing on the circles – or stages if you want – of Dante’s Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. At least he does so in the concerthall version; he worked at an OST for a television series of the book at the same time.
As the booklet says, the music here does not serve as a background for a reading of the Commedia, nor as the soundtrack for a theatrical performance or movie. It is the text itself.
