A subtle reflection on the life of an artist, Philip Glass' second opera, La Belle et la Bête, is based on the works by Jean Cocteau in its original version performed in conjunction with the projected film. Presented as a simple fairy tale, La Belle et la Bête is an extraordinary alchemy of the spirit through which the ordinary world is transformed into a world of magic where the power of the creative and the raw world of nature, represented respectively by Beauty and the Beast, can finally emerge to allow the world of imagination to take flight.
