Plush voice, plush style. That, and two singles that have received some notice, are the factors here for Nick Palmer. In addition, Palmer has an impressive way of handling, a ballad, and a pair of popular songs from the movies. At the time of release it has been a bonus to Easy Listening radio stations.

A onetime high school baseball-batting champion in Newark, Nick Palmer, is at the Copacabana, belting them out with his voice instead of a bat. Only a little more than a year ago, Mr. Palmer was playing bass and singing in a trio on the Jersey Shore. His appearance at the Copa is his third professional engagement as a solo performer, but be delivers with the confidence of a veteran. He comes on with a lively, restful attitude and sustains his joy all through a 50-minute stint. His voice is big and open and he uses all its resources when he hits his climaxes. But he also has a relaxed, casual and highly rhythmic manner when his voice takes on a husky tone, raising faint echoes of a buoyant Bing Crosby and, on ballads, even more suggestions of Tony Bennett. The important thing is that he sings with joy and vitality. He has all the qualifications for a successful pop singer and he is putting his qualifications solidly on the line.
~ From The New York Times by John S. Wilson ("Nick Palmer at the Copa") ~
