Modern Vocal Jazz ranging from soulful standards to avante-garde improvisation.
23-year-old modern jazz vocalist Meghan Gilhespy is an innovative voice in the diverse Vancouver jazz scene. She has recently completed her debut album, Vive Le Tour, which features pioneering contemporary vocal jazz.
As a driving force of modern vocal jazz in Vancouver, Meghan has performed in various jazz venues, including but not limited to Vancouver’s Cellar Jazz Club, Tangent Café, the Media Club, The Emerald, as well as Presentation House.
She has studied both jazz and classical voice practices for over 10 years, with masters such as Darren Radke, Mary-Jo Bischoff, Kate Hammet-Vaughan, Siri Oleson, Melanie Adams, and Dee Daniels. She received a scholarship for excellence in voice through Dee Daniels and Capilano University. In her second year, Meghan received a small scholarship for being the most deserving musician in her class.
She currently composes, performs, and teaches voice and piano privately. Meghan is planning a North American tour for her most recent album.
