Leonid Kogan, one of the best russian violonist of the century, has made many great recordings of the Tchaikovsky's concerto. This one, in 1950, with Nebolsin, is certainly his better attempt, and maybe the greatest version of this major work. Although the recordings of Oistrach or Heifetz are undoubtly very significant achievements, this record is, in my opinion, a true miracle. The lyrism of Kogan's violin is so irresistible that listening this version is almost an exhausting experiment. Well, to decide which interpretation is the greatest is allways a matter of taste, but no lover of the Thaikovsky's violin concerto can ignore this one.
