Jesse Cook is a talented musician and charismatic guitar player who knows how to continuously enrich his style by adding new elements, colors and flavors in his music. "Frontiers" is really a wonderful album and received many enthousiastic comments and reviews by the numerous Jesse Cook fans. Enjoy.
This has got to be the best guitar playing I have heard in a long, long time. The rhythm is so compelling and the lead is so passionate I thought I was somewhere deep in the middle of a steamy Latin country, dancing perfectly to each beat. I have listened to many genre of music over the past 50 years and find the Spanish guitar style so riveting. Maybe because of my own Hungarian background and the lead violin going on. One minute you are happy and the next minute tears are streaming down your face for some unforseen reason. It's as if this music has just reached down and grabbed your very soul. This was my first Jesse Cook, but I've since purchased all available. Played in chronological order, he continues to change and mature, but slowly. No surprises, but consistently good music. The spanish influence is obvious, but Toronto nightlife whispers in the repetitious themes with little or no variations. I disappear into the music of this unique talent and get lost.
Different than his other CDs, more introspective, more feeling. A good range from the very upbeat "Matisse the Cat" the smooth "Cafe Mocha", the driving beat of "Havana" to the most tender feeling guitar solo I have ever heard, "Alone" which I could listen to endlessly. But that's the quality that describes Jesse's music, you can never get enough.Amazon customers
