Giacinto Scelsi – Bot-Ba (1992)

Most, if not all, works on this album will have been posted on this board before - in some of the many, many releases of Scelsi’s compositions; however, Swiss Marianne Schroeder’s Bot-Ba on the Hathut label does not seem to be present here at this moment.

Her interpretation is worth listening to because she doesn’t play a Steinway, but a Bösendorfer.
Not playing the piano myself, I wouldn’t say I’m an expert on the sounds of the various famous brands, but I DO hear a particular “singing/ringing” quality in the higher registers of the Bösendorfer, which may be absent in the generally more powerful sounding Steinway.

A second release of Scelsi’s works performed by Schroeder will be posted tomorrow.
