Live concerto at the Foro Nacional de Música de Madrid on January 7th, 1989
Live concerti has always an electrifying effect. This one is a good example. The sound is not perfect, people cough, some singers were sick. there were tempi problems in some musical phrases, etc. But above all these contretemps was the magic of live music. The interaction between artists and public without filters or technical isuues.
Historically Spain has been homeland of great singers Berganza, Domingo, Aragall or those on the present recording are wellknown by the opera fans.
Another remarkable thing is the voice and musicallity of Alfredo Kraus. This extraordinary singer from the Canarias islands gained thru passage of time volume, afination, and warmth in his voice.
