Recorded in Havana, these terrific vintage late ‘50s sessions feature Frank Emilio Flynn on piano, percussionist Guillermo Barreto, legendary conguero Tatá Güines (listen to him on the track “Gandina, Mondongo y Sandunga”) and bassist Orlando “Papito” Hernandez. The Cuban Jazz Combo recorded these rich Cuban melodies in a way that embraced jazz in their solos, yet never compromised the Cuban spirit and flavor. With arrangements by Mr. Barreto.01.
