The latest project by the trombone master Craig Harris brings together a fine selection of American jazz players (Al McDowell, Kelvyn Bell, Tony Lewis) with the master gypsy musicians of Turkey, led by Barbaros Erköse. On their debut album ’Istanbul,’ Craig Harris and The Nation of Imagination travels over so much terrain that it’s almost mind-blowing. Calling it "jazz" makes sense, of course, but by the time this album is over you will have heard Gypsy music, soul, rap, reggae, hard rock, folk music, you name it.

Albüm Açıklaması:
Craig Harris'in Nation of Imagination adını verdiği son projesi için Amerikalı caz ustaları (Al McDowell, Kelvyn Bell, Tony Lewis) ve Barboros Erköse liderliğinde Türkiye'nin en ünlü çigan müziği ustaları biraraya gelir ve bu projeyi ölümsüzleştirmek için 'İstanbul' adlı albüm kaydedilir. Albümde 'Dijiribludu' gibi içli baladlar, Türk müziğinin dinamit gibi bir örneği: 'Mandıra', Harlem'e adanmış bir parça: 'Big Body Girl' ve darbuka ve klarnetin belki de dünyada ilk kez biraraya geldiği 'Zoupy' gibi parçalar var. Bu müziği caz olarak adlandırmak anlamlı; fakat dinleyenler albümde soul, rap, reggae, folk ve Türk müziğinin eşsiz bir üslupla harmanlandığını fark edecekler.
