"Warren's untimely death is highly dramatic and remembered to this day. It was in the third act of Verdi's La Forza del Destino, at the Metropolitan Opera, on March 4, 1960. He had just finished singing Don Carlo's stirring aria which begins with the words "Morir! Tremenda Cosa!" ("To Die! A Momentous Thing!) when he fell face forward onto the stage, dead. This was the tragic end of a brilliant career. But the document I post today is testimony of a wonderful vocal artist full of life. Some opera arias, some lied, even folk songs. A lovely, but not easy concert. In fact this kind of recitals are the most threatful issue for a singer. There are not chorus, makeup, scenarios, lights, etc. to aid. There is only the music, the vocal technics and the heart.
