French Jazz performance group, here with 70 musicians, founded by Gilbert Artman in 1977. Music composed and directed by Gilbert Artman. Watch the videos on their website! Booklet with Japanese notes.

Biographie from Wikipedia:
Gilbert Artman réalise avec Lard Free des performances diverses; il va participer à la réalisation et l’expression de plusieurs formations musicales: “Clearlight Symphony”, “Vidéo-aventures”, “Catalogue” etc…
Il co-signera avec Pierre Henry la musique des Noces chimiques pour l’Opéra de Paris. Il fera la réalisation musicale de plusieurs films: Idris, d’Antoinette Angelidi; New Old, A l’ombre de la canaille bleue et Visa de Censure, de Pierre Clementi; Mrs les locataires, de Rina Sherman, et la pièce de Cocteau Renaud et Armide, mise en scène par Michel Orlande. Il va travailler également pour la Danse avec le Groupe de Recherche chorégraphique de l’Opéra de Paris.
Sa recherche en “urbanisme sonore” va l’amener à l’élaboration du groupe de saxophonistes Urban Sax. Le développement, le déploiement du groupe dans des contextes architecturaux différents va croître avec les projets successifs. Ceci permettant de jouer à la fois sur le redécoupage du lieu (transfiguration de la réalité) et sur la spatialisation de la musique: fondée sur le souffle et la mobilité, avec une écriture précise et modulable à la fois. Des créations particulières, réalisées sur demande, ont jalonné le trajet d’Urban Sax …
