Gérard Grisey's monumental cycle two hour instrumental cycle. This could be the most important work of the late 20th century. Brought to you by the masterful Austrian sound engineers at KAIROS.

Les Espaces Acoustique is generally considered to be the most important work by French composer Gérard Grisey (1946-1998). This instrumental cycle, made up of six compositions, starts with a piece for solo viola and, over the span of two hours, eventually involves a full orchestra with horn quartet.

This piece is haunting, absorbing , and moving. Grisey's masterful control of timbre allows a glacial development which immerses the listener in his aural landscape. Les Espaces Acoustique is simply a landmark in music, and in art in general.

I remain convinced that Grisey here has written one of the finest works of the 20th century, which, along with his earlier works, arguably affirms him as the most innovative composer since the 1950's.
