is the debut album by American soul/disco group , released in 1979 on the Arista label. The lead single was a major crossover hit, topping the R&B chart and peaking at #12 on the pop chart. The follow-up, a respectful and faithful cover of 's 1965 classic , also made the R&B top 5 and the pop top 20. On the back of its hit singles, the album also became a big seller, peaking at #2 R&B and #13 pop. This album should not be confused with a later GQ compilation of the same name, and with a similar cover image. The four members of - , , , and - first recorded as for Vigor Records. Their smash was first recorded on Vigor as ; the track is identical, but a new title and lyrics were added to cash in on the disco craze. topped the R&B charts for two weeks in 1970. first recorded at the tender age of 13 with a group he formed called . was self-contained and wrote most of the material on this LP, except for 's and 's classic which nearly went to number one also. is a beautiful, airy-sounding ballad that is uniquely arranged; the enthusiastic, positive message of will have you disco dancing to its lively beats and urgent, pleading vocals.
