Ford Blues Band - In Concert Ohne Filter 1998 DVD (2005)

Recorded in August of 1998 in Baden-Baden, Germany, at Ohne Filter, the Ford Blues Band took the stage and proceeded to rock the house. The music itself is fantastic! That was the real treat here. The music. At one point I closed my eyes and lost myself in the tunes.With Patrick Ford – drums, Andy Just – harp and vocals, Volker Striffler – guitar and vocals, and Dewayne Pate – bass and vocals, the band delivers solid blues rock to an appreciative audience. European audiences seem to crave the blues in every form. The Ohne Filter blues fans are no exception to the rule. Choice moments include “I Smell Trouble”, with Volker Striffler delivering a soulful guitar and vocal performance, and “Crazy For My Baby”, with Dewayne Pate breaking loose a killer bass solo.A nice little extra on this DVD is an interview with producer Michael Au. The impetus for his blues programs came when Au realized there was a clear lack of quality music shows on television. His vision, obviously, was realized and quite successful. Au’s reputation has led him to be the go-to guy when it comes to bands touring Europe and wishing to create a live performance video. The only negative comment I have is that the sound and video occasionally don’t match up. It can become a little distracting. However, it was during these moments that I took a visual break and let the music wash over me.
