Smooth Jazz, Easy Listening | mp3 320 + covers, 129MB | 11 songs, 55 min | Croatia 2005

"The Better Side Of The World" is my comeback to musical roots, the music I grew up on, and wich I have almost forgotten in the years of coming of age. It's also my comeback to the accordion, the instrument i entered world of music with and due to wich I still hear and play music as an accordionist, although I've become well acquainted with a number of varied instruments.

This is not a jazz CD, at least not to such the extent as the previous one, although much is expressed in the language of jazz. I have tried to abandon myself to my Mediterranean roots and all the music from the other side of the sea that managed to touch my heart, to fado, tango, flamenco, Maori and African music, Sardinian and French sounds. I hope I have managed to carry over at least a small part of that endless warmth, beauty and good energy that overwhelmed me when dreaming and creating this music. (Elvis Stanic)

'Born in the 1963., Rijeka, Croatia, he started to play at the age of 6. After accomplishing a classical music education for the accordion, he switched to the guitar, and was influenced by the blues, rock and jazz music. In following years he established a successful career as a recording musician, as well as a music producer for the major Croatian pop artists. As a full scholarship awarded Best Entering Student Talent in the 1994. he went to the Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he studied Guitar and Jazz Composition. During the Boston years, he performed with most of Boston based musicians, such as Jim Kelly, Dennis Montgomery, John Thomas, Bob Harrigan, Frank Williams and many others. After returning to Croatia, he established the fusion-based jazz ensemble, the “Elvis Stanic Group”, which has become the best jazz band in Croatia.

In succeeding years they released three albums with original music which won almost all the National music and discography awards. In the 2004 Elvis Stanic Group released The best of album, Introspection. Currently the band works on the new material, expected in the winter. He performed at the Montreaux Jazz Festival at '98 and 2003. (Switzerland), and numerous Jazz festivals in the U.S., Italy, Slovenia, Serbia and Monte Negro, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Turkey, Germany, Greece and France.

“An authentic musical maniac”.(Hrvoje Horvat, Vjesnik)

“It is unusual that a guitarist shows a diversity of ideas that can be expressed both instrumentally and vocally…This was a pleasure. Excellent. (Mark French, Berklee College of Music)

"The sound reminds of Pat Metheny, however, this is a completely new sound, row, liberated, with fast, unexpected lines that merge into semichord groups with strong motion… .An interpretation which fascinates with the contemplative approach and stayes in unforgettable memory. (Nino Zupcevic, Cantus)
