Delicatessen was created in 2006 with the partnership of Beto Callage, a jazz lover and researcher, and Carlos Badia, a local musician, who discovered in the delicate voice of Ana Kruger the possibility to fusion jazz and bossa nova. They invited the musicians Mano Gomes (drums) and Nico Bueno (bass) to create the group. Delicatessen’s show has surprised and delighted many different audiences. This enchantment is the result of a perfect chemistry created between a singer of enormous talent and empathy and the public, but which is also valued by the arrangements of the group and inspired by the instrumental and harmonic richness of Brazilian music and jazz. The shows bring as a special guest Luiz Mauro Filho on the piano. Escaping from the obvious, the repertoire of its second CD ''My Baby Just Cares For Me'' featured songs less well-known, like ''My Melancholy Baby'', composed in 1911, ''Be Careful It`s My Heart'' and ''Why Don’t You Do Right'', and novelties such as ''Mickey'', by the young Canadian jazz singer Diane Nalini. As in the first CD, this album has two musics composed by the producers of the group, Beto Callage and Carlos Badia ''Amores Musicais'' and ''Delicatessen'', besides ''Unica Cancao'', written especially for the Japanese edition. In 2009, Delicatessen won the Award of Brazilian Music (formerly TIM Music Award), the most recognized award of Brazilian music, with the album ''My Baby Just Cares For Me'', for Best Foreign Language Album, and the Acoreanos Music Award, in categories , ,, and . Over the past three years, Delicatessen performed more than 150 concerts across the country (Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and towns in SP, RJ and RS), as well as in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Asuncion (Paraguay). In late 2009, they performed in Crete (Greece). They also performed in the main jazz venues in South America, like Bourbon Street Music Club (Sao Paulo), Mistura Fina (Rio de Janeiro), Spirito Jazz (Vitoria), and Notorious (Buenos Aires), being one of the highlights in the traditional Jazz Festival of Rio das Ostras, in Rio de Janeiro, together with big international attractions. In 2009, they stood out in the Winter Festival of Nova Friburgo. Delicatessen is now starting to work on their third album, keeping their intimate, cool and sophisticated style, trying to surprise and reconstruct, through the standards of jazz and bossa nova, new angles and possibilities of music.
