This two-LP set from 1979 restored solos that were edited out of the two albums Mingus Ah Um and Mingus Dynasty, and includes some newly issued material from those dates. Not a reissue so much as a remake, this music has since been included (along with even more material) on a four-LP Mosaic box set but, since the latter is a limited edition, this makes for a strong alternative. Such Mingus veterans as John Handy, Booker Ervin, and Jimmy Knepper are well-featured along with Don Ellis and Roland Hanna.
