Each composer represented in this recording faced a critical moment, a point where the conventional tuning of twelve equally divided notes per octave was no longer adequate. American composers Charles Ives, Harry Partch, John Cage, and international citizen Ivan Wyschnegradsky, each embraced his own distinctive new tuning approach.from the attached leaflet

There are 2 reasons about this upload, apart from his intrinsic value:
- Time ago (3 January 2007) peachfuzz uploaded John Cage: Sonatas & Interludes for Prepared Piano (1946-1948) played by Joshua Pierce,
re-uploaded later (17 Dec 2008) with 2 other performers of this masterpiece: Aleck Karis and Yuji Takahashi.
Pierce was recorded on 27 july 1975 and now there is another performance of him recorded 13 years later.
Musical fetishism?
- The other one for warmly suggesting to buy the very well made catalog of this exibition at "Musée d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona",
unfortuately closed just few days ago (on last 10 January): The Anarchy of Silence. John Cage and Experimental Art
The catalog it's a little expensive (45€) but "una vera chicca" for the Cage aficionados.
I'm not involved on MACBA business…
