Few artists can claim to have been as close a witness to the birth of rock and roll as guitarist Scotty More, and with this concert the Tupelo, Mississippi native who stepped into the Memphis Recording Service with Elvis Aaron Presley to record "That's All Right" is joined by a series of special guests including Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, and Paul Ansell in performing twenty-eight of The King's best-loved hits. Songs include "Jailhouse Rock", "Blue Moon", "All Shook Up", and "Blue Suede Shoes", and other special guests include Dave Gilmour, Steve Gibbons, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor, and Mike Sanchez.
This is a brilliant DVD, in fact I have bought 3 and given away in presents also. A marvellous variety of musicians, and every one a winner. Bill Wymans Rhythm Kings are suberb and provided brilliant music to accompany the many vocalists, as did Fairport Convention. Albert Lee's wonderful vocals, in addition to his superb guitar playing, are so well suited to Elvis songs and the finale of Hound Dog with all the musicians was absolutely fantastic, Scotty Moore looks delighted!. Eric Clapton seems to be so relaxed and thoroughly enjoying the whole experience. Marc Knophler likewise, however, I must add that these paricular artists are amongst my absolute all time favourites, to have them performing Elvis songs alongside the wonderful guitarist Scotty Moore is like having your birthdays all at once! Paul Ansell has a fantastic voice also and some of his songs sound so much like Elvis that if you close your eyes the King is there with you! Not to forget Steve Gibbons who brought his own smooth style and vocals to the show, great guy! Martin Taylor took it in to another dimension with his wonderful guitar playing and the hairs stood on the back of my neck. Absolutely great stuff and there is enough Elvis material to do another using the same musicians, what a collection that would make!
