Roger Woodward, keyboards & piano [LP 1973 & CD 1990 recordings]

The first time I came across Roger Woodward and his playing was back in 1969 when I attended the Musica Viva Concerto in Australia, Woodward's birthplace. I was tremendously impressed by him, and promised I would compose a piece for him. I am extremely happy now that I have been able to keep my promise. I must also add that his playing on this record impressed me greatly.

Sorry but I'm not so clever in ripping from LP
(BTW this LP is very difficult to rip, with a lot of long silences…..)
The wav files are not cleaned in any way:
if the receiver know how to clean without erasing also what was recorded over the noise…
please do it.

Equipment used for A/D conversion:
(I use the state of art of '70, unfortunately, not like my friend Lou of the Avant Garde Project)
Shure VN35HE phono cartridge
SME 3900 tonearm
Transcriptor Hydraulic turntable
Akai AA-5800 amplifier
Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space soundcard

Roger Woodward, piano
Contemporary | EAC (ape + cue) | 78:49 | Booklet's scan | 207MB | RS

The piano has always played a central role in Takemitsu's music… the figures in Western music whose impact on Takemitsu have been greatest - Debussy, Scriabin and Messiaen - have all made major contributions to the the piano's repertoire.

ps.: For the "complete" piano works one need "Rain Tree Sketch II (in memoriam Olivier Messiaen)", composed on 1992:
it's on BIS CD-805 (1996) with Noriko Ogawa for 4:42 as pianist (very near to Woodward approach and with the Tôru consensus).
