    The only constant is change

Following the announcement by the department of agriculture, forestry and fisheries that 12 game species were added to the list of tame and domesticated animals, which is currently regulated under the Animal Improvement Act (Act 62 of 1998), the South African game industry took note that this industry is changing.

In short it entails that game ranchers will be able to breed with these species through the identification and use of animals of superior genetic quality in order to promote the production and performance of these animals.

Turn to p 174 to see what impact this announcement will have on the industry, as well as its effect on the hunting market, seeing that many of these species are very popular with hunters. We also report on how the organised game and hunting industry responded to this.
