The tsunami that hit the provinces of Banten and Lampung, at the end of December, paralyzed shrimp seeding and most enlargement ponds.
Chairperson of Lampung Shrimp Hatchery Association (APU) on Monday (7/1) morning stated that shrimp production in Banten and Lampung is predicted to decline significantly for the next 3-4 months. The reason is that the hatcheries in the Banten coast and South Lampung were severely damaged by the tsunami.
This damage requires a damaged supply, while the repair ponds in the coastal areas of the two provinces have not suffered much damage. Only minor damage, such as pond fences collapsed, sea pumps disappeared, paral distribution of washed water.
