TOUR EXCLUSIVE U2: THE JOSHUA TREE FEAR AND LOVING IN AMERICA
The original tour for The Joshua Tree was one filled with incident and drama. Now, thirty years on, U2 are readying themselves to do it all over again, in a near three-month-long American and European stadium jaunt which will see them play the album in full. Some of its songs, Exit, In God’s Country, Trip Through Your Wires, have rarely been performed by the band. In the case of Red hill Mining Town, which in Clayton’s estimation suffered from a “mid-tempo problem”, they’ll be playing it live for the first time. The announcement of The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 is a surprising one for two reasons. Firstly, U2 have always resisted classic-album nostalgia. Secondly, hey had already spoken of their plan to release their in-progress album Songs Of Experience this year and resume their Innocence + Experience tour. So what changed?
