The start of another new year and
all the best to everyone. It looks
like it is going to be a memorable
    year for many reasons, not
least that we are celebrating the 30th
    birthday of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’
Club. More on that in this magazine and
subsequent issues leading up to the
Birthday Bash at Thoresby Hall in June.
There’s more to 2014 than our own
birthday. Did you realise for example that it is
the anniversary of 1904, the year the founder
of Jaguar, Sir William Lyons, was born? The
    D-type and XK140 were introduced in 1954,
60 years ago, and 50 years ago the 4.2 litre
version of the XK engine was then launched
in the Mark X and E-type. The last E-type
was produced 40 years ago as well. It was
20 years ago that the X-300 saloons were
introduced and 10 years ago when the 2.7
litre diesel was introduced (in the S-type).
