According to the India Hotel Review Report 2016 released by Horwath HTL for STR Global, 2016 was the best year for the Indian hotel industry since 2007. All India occupancy rose by 2.4 points to 64.1%, ADR by 2%, and RevPAR by 5.9% whereas demand grew by 12.5%. This shows that the hospitality industry is set for a period of growth and developers too look forward to more asset development and acquisition opportunities. Hotelier India’s March issue, therefore, focuses on key developers in the industry. Besides understanding their market-specific issues, we also highlight their upcoming projects.

As the industry is set for a rapid expansion, the upcoming Hotel Build 2017, to be held on 18th and 19th May at The Westin Gurgaon, will shed light on ways to make the business sustainable and successful. Speakers at this event will talk about speedy construction and build techniques that reduce delays, thereby minimising costs.

The issue also gives a sneak peek into another industry-first initiative from Hotelier India–the F&B Conclave 2017–followed by the nearbuy FoodFood Top 100 Awards 2017, which will be held on 12th April at The St Regis Mumbai. This initiative is in response to the market’s need for a platform where industry people can discuss latest and upcoming F&B trends.

The F&B story this issue pertains to the use of premix foods, such as sauces and seasonings, in commercial kitchens. Many chefs are showing a growing inclination to use these as they are under constant pressure to improve delivery speed and reduce costs while maintaining quality.

Hotelier India also discovers how investing in the right audio systems and curating appropriate music for public spaces has become important for hoteliers. This allows them to select and enhance the ambience in a particular space, be it the pool deck, elevator, or spa.
