    Competitions give hairstylists the opportunity to step out of the usual salon routine, take hairstyling to another level, and entrench themselves in creativity that may not be found in daily work. It is also one of the best ways to gain exposure as an individual artist.

    With the hair competition scene in Singapore on a constant rise, we decided that we needed a VOLUME 2. However, this time instead of speaking to the winners like we did in our previous Competition Issue, we decided to interview the participants of various competitions to get an insight of each individual’s experience, and to get their opinions on what organisers can do to entice more hairstylists. We also spoke to some of the judges to get advice for hairstylists who are planning on competing in future and to find out what goes on behind the scenes of a competition.
